The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and the Heart Research Institute are proud to partner to host the 2017 Sydney Cardiovascular Symposium,
“Big Data and the Future of Cardiology”
Incorporating the inaugural Sydney ECR/MCR Cardiovascular Meeting and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute’s 18th Princesses’ Lecture
The Victor Chang has joined forces with the Heart Research Institute to host the Sydney Cardiovascular Symposium. This annual International Symposium will be the premier calendar event for NSW cardiovascular researchers and clinicians. This year the Symposium will be dedicated to exploring the impact of big data approaches, and the associated challenges, across the gamut of cardiovascular biology: from basic science through applied science, to clinical diagnosis and decision making.
The Symposium will begin with a public lecture series and discussion forum on the afternoon of Wed 6th, followed by a day dedicated to showcasing rising-star cardiovascular researchers and clinical trainees in NSW on Thurs 7th. The traditional International Symposium will take place on Friday 8th, and conclude with the VCCRI’s Princesses’ Lecture.
The 2017 Princesses’ Lecturer will be Professor Calum MacRae, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, who is at the forefront of developing big data approaches in cardiology. MacRae is leading the $75M ‘One Brave Idea’ to beat coronary heart disease by exploiting a diversity of big data. We are also fortunate to have world experts in big data from Australia and abroad, covering topics from high throughput stem cell research, through to personalised medicine and e-health.
We hope that you will join us at Big Data and the Future of Cardiology in December,
Jamie Vandenberg, Cath Suter, and Adam Hill (Chairs)
