Early and mid-career Focus Day
In 2017 the Sydney Cardiovascular Symposium will incorporate the inaugural EMCR focus event for cardiovascular clinicians and scientists in NSW. This event will not only be a platform to recognise the excellence of our younger researchers, but also a means to foster collaboration and interdisciplinary research across the state. With the generous support of the National Heart Foundation, we hope to incorporate this EMCR focus day into the Symposium every year.
The day will include several international plenaries interspersed with talks chosen from abstracts submitted by EMCRs. We will have sessions devoted to basic science and clinical/public health research and several moderated poster sessions judged by our international and national invited speakers. The day will conclude with a moderated panel discussion on future careers in cardiovascular biomedicine. Please check the program for further details, and submit your abstract now!
Rising Star Awards
The EMCR Focus Day will also contain a Rising Star session: one abstract will be chosen from each of the categories – Basic Science, Clinical Science, Public Health – for a showcase talk. To apply for the Rising Star award EMCRs must submit a one-page CV along with their abstract. To be considered you must be a maximum of 5 years post PhD (PhD students may apply). Register your application to be named a Rising Star by choosing the option during registration and submitting your abstract and CV by Nov 1. Applicants who are not successful for the Rising Star award will still be considered for oral and moderated poster presentations.
CV should be sent after registration to: firstname.lastname@example.org
